‘20 years of serving the Filipino’

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Medilines Distributors, Inc. vows to strengthen its role to help provide Filipinos with quality healthcare by assisting private and government institutions in the procurement of world-class medical equipment and by tapping financial instruments to address these investments.

Medilines Chairman Virgilio “Jojo” Villar emphasized his commitment as the company marks its 20th anniversary of bringing in quality life-saving innovations to the Philippine healthcare industry.

Being one of the country’s top providers of state-of-the-art medical equipment, Medilines’ broad portfolio of quality medical equipment under the diagnostic imaging (i.e., CT scan, MRI, X-ray), dialysis (dialysis machines), and cancer therapy (linear accelerators) categories address the most prevalent diseases among Filipinos such as renal diseases, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases.

Founded in 2002, the company’s growth is attributed to Jojo Villar’s extensive experience in operations, sales, and distribution of outpatient medical products. In the past 20 years, Medilines became a leader in the distribution of critical care medical equipment in the country–both in the private and public sectors.

As the company enters its third decade, it is working on expanding its consumable business to drive both topline and profit growth. Medilines inaugurated this year its new warehouse facility equipped with cold storage for these delicate consumables.

“It is important for us to maintain the strong partnerships we have cultivated with our principals,” he said “At the same time, we are also open to new opportunities. It is also Medilines’ goal to maintain dominance in the healthcare equipment market through its continuous participation in major, capital intensive, projects.”

Milestones

In reaching Medilines’ milestones, Jojo Villar brought with him over twenty years of experience in the medical technology industry–having served formerly as the Managing Director of B. Braun Medical Supplies Inc, of Germany.

In 2012, Medilines made a major breakthrough when the Department of Health awarded the company a P 29-million project. That same year, the company sold its first Life Support products when it supplied eight ventilators to Pasig City General Hospital under an exclusive arrangement then with Draeger, another top German medical company.

In 2014, Medilines became the sole distributor of GE (USA) point-of-care ultrasound. By 2016, Medilines had become a trusted distributor of top global suppliers including Samsung (Korea), Philips (Netherlands), and Siemens Healthineers (Germany).

Fast forward to 2022, the company is set to deliver cancer therapy equipment to Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital in Legazpi City, Northern Mindanao Medical Center in Cagayan de Oro City, and the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, in Quezon City.

Medilines also won a tender to supply Philippine General Hospital with its second linear accelerator this year. This advanced radiation therapy equipment targets and kills only the cancer cells while sparing the good cells during treatment.
